From the Fund Pension Policies screen you will be able to request, enter or edit an actuarial certificate.
Request certificate through Simple Fund 360
In this section, we will look at how to request an actuarial certificate through Simple Fund 360.
An actuary provider account is needed to request an actuarial certificate through Simple Fund 360.
Please refer to your preferred actuary provider's website for instructions on how to set up your account.
To request an actuary certificate through Simple Fund 360 from the Fund Pension Policies screen:
- Click New Actuarial Certificate
- Ensure the method drop down box reads Request Actuarial Certificate
- Select the financial year the actuarial certificate is being requested for
- Click Request Actuarial Certificate
- Select the provider to request the actuarial certificate through
- Confirm the fund contacts
- Confirm whether the fund is eligible to use the Segregated method or not
- Click Submit to Actuary
After clicking Submit to Actuary, you will be prompted to log in to your actuary provider account.
Deemed segregated funds will automatically have the appropriate segregated periods completed when obtaining an actuary certificate through Simple Fund 360.

Manual actuary percentage
To input a manual actuary percentage, you will need the following information:
- The actuary percentage for the fund
- (If applicable) The periods of the year during which the fund was deemed segregated
To record a manual actuary certificate in Simple Fund 360:
- Click New Actuarial Certificate
- Ensure the method drop down box reads Manually Enter Details
- Select the financial year the actuarial certificate is being requested for
- Click Manually Enter Details

Fund is unsegregated: Unsegregated funds will need to record the Actuarial Percentage received then select the method to record the General Expense and Investment Expense deductibility.
Fund is segregated: Segregated funds, including deemed segregated funds, will need to both record the actuarial percentage received from your actuary provider and, if applicable, the dates in which the fund was deemed segregated. The method used to record the General Expense and Investment Expense will also need to be selected.
Please note an estimated actuary percentage may also need to be manually entered for an SMSF with both reversionary pensions and accumulation funds.
Deemed Segregated Fund
If requesting an actuary certificate through Simple Fund 360, the deemed segregated parts of the year will be filled out for you.
Recording a manual actuary certificate in Simple Fund 360 for a deemed segregated fund will require the deemed segregated periods to be added when recording the actuary percentage.
For assistance in identifying when a year contains deemed segregated periods, please refer to Changes to ECPI.
Segregated periods can be added to an actuary percentage simply by clicking Add and recording the segregated period commencement and cessation dates.
Apportionment of fund expenses
Simple Fund 360 gives you the choice to select the method to use when apportioning the fund's expenses to determine their deductibility.

Use ATO Formula | Uses the formulas outlined in TR 93/17 [8] |
User specified | Use a custom percentage to determine the non-deductible portion |
Use Actuarial % | Use the actuarial percentage to determine the non-deductible portion |
Amendments
If a confirmed certificate needs to be changed then you will need to contact your actuarial provider to allow the amendment. You will create a new actuarial certificate request in order to resend the data.
